Top 10 Hospitals In The UAE

22 June 2026 7 min read

Healthcare quietly anchors a lot of the long term decisions our clients make about where to live in the UAE. The country has invested heavily over the past decade and the result is a hospital network that competes with anywhere in Europe or North America, often with shorter waiting times and a more concierge feel.

These are the ten hospitals we hear about most often when private clients ask where to register their family.

1. Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

The flagship for complex medicine in the country. Multi organ transplant, advanced cardiac, neurosciences and oncology, all operating to the same protocols as Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. If something serious happens, this is where many doctors in the region will refer you.

2. Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), Abu Dhabi

A partnership between Abu Dhabi Health Services and Mayo Clinic. Quietly become one of the largest tertiary hospitals in the region with very strong oncology and complex surgery.

3. Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, Dubai

The most modern Mediclinic in the country, in Al Barsha South. Strong on family medicine, paediatrics, orthopaedics and women's health, with a calm, almost hotel like feel that families respond well to.

4. American Hospital Dubai

Long established, JCI accredited and the default choice for many older Dubai residents. Excellent cardiology, oncology and a serious executive health programme.

5. King's College Hospital London, Dubai (Dubai Hills)

Brings the consultant led NHS model into Dubai Hills. Strong on women and children, gastroenterology and orthopaedics. Popular with British families who want a familiar clinical culture.

6. Saudi German Hospital, Dubai

A workhorse hospital with very broad specialties, IVF and a busy maternity unit. Good value within insurance networks.

7. Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi

Quaternary care in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, with strong oncology, transplant and neurosciences. Part of the wider Burjeel network that covers most of the country.

8. NMC Royal Hospital, Khalifa City

Large multi specialty hospital that handles a huge volume of expat families in Abu Dhabi. Strong maternity, paediatrics and emergency care.

9. Medcare Women and Children Hospital, Dubai

Boutique, focused entirely on women and children. The maternity experience here is the reason many families choose it for a first or second baby.

10. Al Zahra Hospital, Sharjah and Dubai

One of the oldest private hospitals in the country and still a quiet favourite for cardiology, orthopaedics and general surgery. Often shorter waits than the bigger Dubai names.

How to think about healthcare when you move

Pick a primary hospital that is within twenty minutes of home, register the family early, and confirm your insurance is on the network at full coverage rather than co pay. For anything truly complex, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and SSMC are the names most senior doctors privately refer to first.
