Sphere Abu Dhabi: what we know about the second Sphere venue and its impact on Yas Island

12 May 2026 6 min read

In December 2024 Sphere Entertainment Co. and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi announced a strategic partnership to build the second Sphere venue in the world on Yas Island. Construction planning advanced through 2025, with site works on the Yas Bay precinct underway by Q1 2026.

Scale and design

The Abu Dhabi Sphere is expected to broadly mirror the Las Vegas original — a roughly 111-metre-high, 157-metre-wide spherical venue with an interior LED dome and the world's largest exterior LED display. Capacity is expected to be in the 18,000–20,000 range. The Yas Bay location places it within walking distance of Etihad Arena, the W Abu Dhabi and the existing Yas Bay Waterfront F&B precinct.

Timing

Sphere Entertainment has not published a hard opening date. Industry expectation is late 2027 to 2028 for completion based on the four-year build cycle of the Las Vegas original.

Real estate read-through

Yas Island freehold values have been on a structural uptrend since 2023, supported by Yas Marina Circuit, Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld, Yas Mall and SeaWorld Yas Island (opened 2023). Adding Sphere consolidates Yas Bay as the UAE's primary entertainment cluster east of Dubai. The most direct beneficiaries are Aldar's Yas Bay residential releases and Yas Park Views, Yas Park Gate and Yas Acres golf-and-water villas.
