Abu Dhabi is quieter than Dubai, which is exactly why a lot of people prefer it. The hotels reflect that, more space, more calm, and in many cases better value for the same star rating.
Five star and above
- Emirates Palace, Mandarin Oriental is the grande dame. Gold leaf, private beach, and one of the most beautiful breakfast rooms in the world.
- Erth Abu Dhabi is the local favourite for understated five star, all suites, beautiful Arabic architecture.
- The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort has the best beach in the emirate and the butler service is genuine.
- Park Hyatt Saadiyat is my personal pick, calmer than the St Regis, incredible pool, and the breakfast is excellent.
- Rosewood Abu Dhabi on Al Maryah Island is the move for a city stay, marina views, and the Sunday brunch is a serious event.
- Four Seasons Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah is the most consistent five star in the city for business travellers.
- Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort sits right on the turtle nesting beach and is brilliant for families.
Four star
- Yas Island Rotana is the smartest four star on Yas, easy access to the parks and the F1 circuit.
- Centro Yas Island is the same group, lower price, still walkable to Yas Mall.
- Aloft Abu Dhabi is the best four star downtown if you want to be near ADNEC.
Three star and value
- Premier Inn Abu Dhabi Capital Centre is the reliable budget choice.
- Ibis Abu Dhabi Gate is fine for a short stay or a layover.
- Novotel Abu Dhabi Al Bustan is the best three star for families, big pool and shuttle to Yas.
If you are visiting Abu Dhabi to look at Saadiyat, Yas, Reem or Al Maryah property, base yourself on the island you are buying on. You learn more about a community in two nights staying inside it than in ten viewings. We can arrange the full trip.
