UAE Golden Visa in 2026: who qualifies now and what changed last year

18 May 2026 7 min read

The UAE Golden Visa is a 10-year renewable residency that does not require an Emirati sponsor and allows holders to sponsor family members without restriction on the number of dependents. By 2026 it spans ten distinct eligibility tracks.

Property investors

  • AED 2 million property value (single or up to three combined). Mortgaged purchases qualify provided at least 50% has been paid to the bank.

Public investors

  • AED 2 million committed to an approved investment fund (with supporting financials), or
  • A licensed commercial / industrial business with capital of at least AED 2 million, or
  • Annual government tax contributions of at least AED 250,000.

Entrepreneurs

  • Founders of an approved startup with a project value of at least AED 500,000, or holders of an SME licence with required revenue thresholds.

High earners and skilled professionals

  • Monthly salary of at least AED 30,000 plus a valid employment contract in an approved occupation classified at MOHRE skill level 1 or 2, and a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Specialised talent

  • Scientists endorsed by the Emirates Scientists Council; doctors and PhDs in priority fields; engineers in AI, biotech and electronics; nurses with 15+ years' experience.

Creatives, athletes, executives

  • Artists and creatives with documented recognition from the relevant ministry; internationally ranked athletes; senior executives meeting documented criteria.

Outstanding students and humanitarian pioneers

  • Top students from accredited UAE universities (with GPA cut-offs) and top international graduates from the global top-100 universities (within two years of graduation). A separate Humanitarian Pioneers track recognises long-serving NGO contributors.

What changed in 2025

In 2025 ICP refined the documentation pathway for the AED 30,000 salary track, broadened recognition of foreign degrees, and extended fast-track processing in Dubai (DLD-issued Golden Visas for property buyers can be completed in days). The AED 2M property threshold and the requirement to retain qualifying property for the duration of the visa remain unchanged.
