Top Sovereign Wealth Funds In The UAE

25 June 2026 6 min read

The UAE punches far above its weight in global capital markets because of the sheer scale of its sovereign vehicles. Spread across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, these funds together manage well over USD 2 trillion. Here is the breakdown.

Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA)

The largest of the UAE's sovereign funds, with estimated assets approaching USD 1 trillion. ADIA is a quiet global investor with a long term mandate across listed and private markets.

Mubadala Investment Company

Estimated AUM around USD 330 billion. Mubadala is the UAE's strategic growth investor, with major positions in GlobalFoundries, AMD historically, biotech, semiconductors, defence and renewable energy.

ADQ

Estimated AUM around USD 250 billion. ADQ holds many of Abu Dhabi's industrial and food security assets and has expanded internationally, including into Egypt, Türkiye and South Asia.

Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD)

Estimated AUM around USD 350 billion. ICD holds Dubai's strategic stakes including Emirates Airline, Emirates NBD, ENOC, dnata and others.

Emirates Investment Authority (EIA)

The federal sovereign wealth fund, structurally smaller but strategically important for federal level stakes.

International Holding Company (IHC)

Not a sovereign fund in the strict sense, but a publicly listed conglomerate with strong sovereign linkages. IHC's market capitalisation has at times exceeded USD 200 billion, making it one of the most valuable companies in the region.

Royal Group, Multiply Group and Alpha Dhabi

Each plays a connected role in the broader Abu Dhabi capital ecosystem with sovereign linkages and overlapping leadership.

Why it matters for residents and investors

If you understand which fund owns which asset, you understand the market. The same sovereign capital that builds Saadiyat Cultural District also funds GlobalFoundries chip fabs in upstate New York, and the same family of holding companies behind Aldar also owns large swathes of regional consumer infrastructure.
