Application strategy
- Test windows matter. Most British schools assess in October–November for September entry the following year.
- Pre-assessment for Year 7 at Dubai College, JESS, Repton and Brighton College AD is competitive — start preparation in Year 5.
- IB vs A Level. The IB Diploma is broader (six subjects + Extended Essay + ToK + CAS); A Level allows earlier specialisation, often preferred for medicine, engineering and law in the UK.
- Sixth Form transfers. Several schools (DESC, JESS, GEMS Wellington, Cranleigh) accept external Sixth Form applicants — useful if your current school does not offer A Level or IB.
